Longer Statement
Marco Zaffino’s artistic inquiry delves into the elusive nature of Time and the phenomena that appear and hide from us, seeking to unconceal the concealed and find profound beauty in both minutiae and the greatness of the lands. His practice embodies a "knot" methodology, a tangential approach reflecting an entangled tapestry of ideas, disciplines, and interests. This fluid methodology allows for a rich interplay across photography, site-specific interventions, paintings, and writings, ensuring a constant, dynamic exploration rather than a singular, fixed perspective. He sets sentries to simply observe and point, without judgment or instruction, drawing inspiration from philosophical concepts like Heidegger’s knot and Husserl’s perspectives on human expression.
Recently understanding his own neurodivergent qualities, Marco recognizes how this innate way of processing the world has always fueled his multi-faceted creative journey, allowing him to navigate and juggle diverse aspects of creativity. This personal insight deepens his commitment to fostering creative and human connection, especially in our current era. Against a backdrop of increasingly polarizing political landscapes and the rapid pace of technological change, Marco believes that supporting and facilitating others in their creative endeavors, and championing genuine human communication, is not just valuable but essential. Beyond his roles as an artist, photographer, writer, and filmmaker, Marco dedicates himself to creative and sporting excellence as a GBR Foil coach, constantly seeking to bridge divides and foster understanding. His work, whether shown individually or as a syntactical whole, aims to spark curiosity and connect the most fragile lines and webs of our shared human experience.
